As a general rule, we do not encourage the signing of confidentiality agreements as part of the CO.STARTERS process. It’s important that the group establish enough trust that participants aren’t worried their ideas will be stolen. The expectations setting exercise at the beginning of Session 1 is a good place to address confidentiality with the group. Part of what we hope CO.STARTERS will help do is create a safe, secure space for the exchange and exploration of ideas. Signing confidentiality agreements assumes that people shouldn’t be trusted and undermines the culture we are hoping to create.
